Mr Two Party
I was really racking my brain for months trying to come up with the perfect theme for my 2 year old fella, because this year was his GOLDEN BIRTHDAY! I thought of things like Willy Wonka, Goldrush, pot of gold, but I kept thinking and thinking and it hit me-Mr T Party. Not only does my Grayson make the biggest grouch face when I take his picture, but he is sturdy as all get out for his age-plus Mr T is known for all his gold bling-it was perfect. I also decided it would be extra fun to make it 80's theme, if people would be willing to dress up. I know our household will ALWAYS accept a dressup challenge.
I decked out the house with gold tables and cars (the boy loves his cars) dozens and dozens of gold balloons (the boy goes crazy for balloons too-"loons!"-love it!) I like to keep the first few of my baby's birthdays simple, so it was just a family and mommy friend BBQ dinner. Most 2 year olds are just excited to be sung to, let alone thrown some crazy blow out party with kids that can't even talk.
We had your standard BBQ foods-hotdogs/hamburgers, potato salad, pasta salad, chips, drinks, etc. I made a few 'golden desserts' for after-a caramel banana cake trifle and a homemade yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I wanted his cake to be unique, so I got a 2 cake mold. Also, because it had to be Mr T themed, I dipped Bugles in chocolate and put them all over the cake-make it pokey. The cake was a little prickly on the outside, but soft and sweet in the middle-just like my Grayson.
